Parent Responsibility

Parents remain resposnible for Auskickers during training session. Auskickers especially young ones often need to go to the toilet during the training session. With over 100 5-8 years olds on the Oval it is important that parents assist with supervision. Join in the activities and help out as it is very rewarding for you and your child and provides a safer and better learning environment.

School Holidays

Each age group coach will discuss and gauge interest in training during scholl holidays with parents during the season.

What if I cannot make training?

If you know in advance please e-mail your age group coach.

Format of Training

Skills and Drills about 40 mins (lots of parent help required as we try to keep numbers in each drill to 5).

Game - approximately 20 mins.

Club Song 1 min

Auskick Game Principles

Encourage participation and team play.

We do not grade Auskickers (in fact there is no grading of teams until U12s).

Everyone gets a kick (umpire discretion may be used to ensure everyone participates).

Everyone plays all positions through the season.

Players will be moved around positions to spread participation.

No tackling, bumping etc.

When you get the ball you are given time and space to kick or hand ball.

Gala Days

Wildcats teams normally participate in 2 or 3 Auskick Gala Days where we play in round robin competition against other North Shore Auskick teams.

Gala Days replace Sunday morning training and normally go through 8.30am to 11am.

In 2007 Gala Dyas were held at Gore Hill and Acron Oval, St Ives.

Gala Days are played under the same Auskick game principles and the players enjoy the ‘buzz’ of a big game day.

Season Timetable

The season extends from early April (first day in 2008 will be Sunday 6 April) through to August.

We will provide a schedule for the season including school holidays, Gala Days and parent Level 0 training sessions in the first week/s of training.

Wet Weather

Willoughby Council makes the decision on whether the ground is open or closed due to wet weather. Please ring the Wet Weather Line on 9777 7631 if you are in doubt. If the Oval is open Auskick will be on.

Club Song

The Willoughby Wildcats team song is sung by each age group seperately when a traning session is complete. We encourage participation of parents in the team circle. The song is sung to the tune of the mighty Richmong Tigers team song and the words are available on the web site. The words will also be provided to each Auskicker in the first month of training.

Parent Participation

How Can I Help?

You can assist by volunteering for a coaching role, managers role or parent helper at traning.

E-mail communication with Auskickers in group.

Set up ground for training sessions.

Take Auskickers on warm up.

Coordination of parents for drills.

Organising and umpiring game.

Pach up equipment.

Managers Role

Parent Helper Role

How can I improve my own skills to better help my kids?

We will be holding a parent traning (Level 0 Coaching Certificate) for 1 hour while the Aiskickers do one of their normal Sunday morning training sessions. The session will be run by the AFL Development Managers and at a time when the ground is free. There is no costs to this session and it is highly recommended to all mums and dads.

Child Protection

The Auskick National Program requires all those working with children, ncluding coaches and managers to complete a “Prohibited Employment Declaration” under the Child Protection Act.
